Meet The Team
Eric Houghton
BA Psychology, MA Gestalt Therapy
I came to New Zealand at age 8 and have called Wellington home for most of my adult life. I’m raising my family here in a place I consider unmatched, despite its challenges.
My path to becoming a registered psychotherapist began not in a classroom, but through my own life-changing experience with therapy. After working in communications, broadcasting, and film, I discovered firsthand how transformative psychotherapy could be. This experience inspired me to shift careers so I might offer that same gift to others. I went back to school, earning my Bachelor’s in Psychology followed by a Master’s in Gestalt Psychotherapy.
Now, as a founding therapist at Terrace Counselling & Therapy, I work with individuals, couples, and families using a relational approach focused on creating awareness and helping people become who they’ve always wished to be. I’m also passionate about group work, having trained facilitators across New Zealand to support teenagers building resilience and those grieving suicide loss.
I welcome people from all backgrounds, gender, sexuality and relationship structure to my practice in central Wellington. I work with empathy and understanding, and without judgment or being overly directive. You may unapologetically be yourself here.
You may contact me directly on 021 661 565, or via email [email protected].
Diane McIndoe
BA (Hons) Psych, Dip. Gestalt Psychotherapy
Working as a New Zealand board registered psychotherapist in central Wellington for the past 15 years, with employment prior to this both professional and non professional, I have the experience of a life that has had many turns and learnings.
I believe in diversity, honesty and the value of hearing ourselves say things out loud to a person who will listen, respond and at times challenge us. As a therapist, I can be one of those for a time. We seek to bring what is hidden (unaware) into the open (aware).
I offer a place to come aimed at emotional stability, identifying and changing negative patterns ; and learning how to be more content and regulated in your body.
You can contact me directly on 021 101 5111, my email is [email protected].
Anja Striepke
Gestalt Psychotherapy and Art Therapy
My approach is informed by Gestalt therapy principles, which is emotion-based and awareness-oriented and ultimately aims to support you to feel in charge of your life, have a solid sense of yourself, and lead meaningful and safe relationships. All of you is welcome, as I believe that all aspects of you (even those you struggle with) have validity and a reason to exist. I will support you to understand yourself, find compassion, and learn new ways of responding to challenges. I do so by offering talking therapy which we can expand on with creative expression and mindfulness techniques to the degree you are comfortable with.
You can contact me via email [email protected] or phone 021 022 72 013.
